| Callards Orientator Adventure Run Series 2008 |
| Fed up with running in the same direction as everyone else? The 10K Orientator combines a 10k mass start running race, check points and a map. |
|
|
 |
|
90% running skills : 10% map reading skills
No compass or previous experience required!
These events combine cross county and urban running. Join the hundreds of other athletes on these adventures, win prizes [if you're fast enough] and challenge your friends to become Orientator Series Winners.
These races are NOT designed to test your map reading skills but instead test your running prowess and ability to choose the most efficient route. The map reading is really very basic. |

| What: |
Everyone starts at the same time. After a 100m dash, each competitor picks up a map of the area, showing the Check Points. Race to each Check Point, in any order and dib your electronic ‘Widget' into the Check Point. Visit each Check Point and race back to the finish line.
You should run approximately 10k-12k depending on the route you choose.
Feel free to pair up with friends or you can go it alone to maximize speed. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from other athletes; working together will make the whole race more fun.
Provided on the day: Map & electronic Widget.
Check Points: These are red and white flags on an electronic stand. These will be spread across the race area as shown on the map.
The Map: This is an accurate map showing all the main tracks or roads. This is issued after the race has started. No fancy OS map symbols, contour lines and crazy scales.
Race etiquette: There are many ways to win this race including choosing the most efficient route and running faster than everyone else. Feel free to team up with other athletes and use your collective brain power. The course is not designed to test your map reading skills but more to test your ability to make quick decisions, choose the best route and run.
