| What: |
Everyone starts at the same time. After a 100m dash, each competitor picks up a map of the area, showing the Check Points. Race to each Check Point, in any order, and dib your electronic ‘Widget' into the Check Point. Visit each Check Point and race back to the finish line.
You should run approximately 10k-12k depending on the route you choose.
Feel free to pair up with friends or can go it alone to maximize speed. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from other athletes; working together will make the whole race more rewarding.
Provided on the day: Map & electronic Widget.
Check Points: These are red and white flags on an electronic stand. These will be spread across the race area and shown on the map.
The Map: This is an accurate map showing all the main tracks or roads. This is issued after the race has started.
Race etiquette: There are many ways to win this race including choosing the most efficient route, not getting lost, racing on your own and running fast. Feel free to team up with other athletes en route and use your collective brain power. The course is not designed to test your map reading skills but more to test your ability to make quick decisions, choose the best route and run fast.
You will invariably be running the same route as some other athletes but you wont know for sure if they've been to all the check points. So don't rely on being able to keep up with them and are you sure they're going the right way?
Be wary of following athletes that might be lost.
