The Hurt is back for 2012, the year of the 12k!

The course will be the same with a little bit more! And there's now a team or solo entry for the 24k also on offer. If you like serious endurance running, this could be the one for you.

A woodland wonderland of trees, tracks and terrifying hills, but you are rewarded with some spectacular views across to France (with good eyesight) and fast downhill running. The water station at 6km, marshals cheering you on and e-timing will make this another great event.

With kind permission from The Friends of The Hurtwood, The Hurt claiming to be the newest and most challenging 12k trail run in the South East. It might just hurt...

Open to fell runners, fun runners and walkers, if you like climbing and beautiful views this one's for you.

What:

12k trail run climbing through the picturesque alpines of the Greensand Ridge of The Surrey Hills. This magnificent event will offer superb scenery as you race through the pine forests of "Little Switzerland".

24k trail run offering solo or team entry. Teams of 3 can race together. Their combined time will produce the team time.

If you like hill running this is for you.

The course profile will be here soon.

Course

Starting and finishing at Walking Bottom car park under the blue gantry, the first climb is approximately 100m from the start. Then back round to the start before climbing again up the opposite side of the valley and then away to the summit of Pitch Hill. Then, down into the next valley and up again to the summit of Holmbury Hill, more steep climbs and gradual ascents. Then off the back of Holmbury Hill, returning to the finish via some more steep ascents.... but the final 200m is all down hill.

If you're doing the 24k, you get to do it twice! Keep your wits about you and follow the signs and marshal's instructions at the lap point.

The course profile will be here soon.
